Network Engineer

Shaw Systems Associates, Inc., a rapidly growing software development company, is seeking a motivated Network Engineer who is a highly organized and reliable team member to work full time in our Houston, Texas, office. Candidate needs to have experience in network design, securitization, storage systems, colocations, and cloud computing. Candidate will also require the skills and abilities to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve potential problems in hardware configurations and application transitions while being able to identify corrective actions and monitor outputs to ensure the configuration reflects the desired activity.

Responsibilities would include but not limited to:

Lead effort to design, implement, and support networks based on Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
Assist with and manage support of complex environments including Microsoft Windows, SQL, IIS, Linux, and related technologies.
Assist with and manage support of virtualized server environment based on VMware technologies.
Cloud Hosting and Colocation data center

Experience with:

Operations of a 24/7/365 datacenter with multiple client-facing applications
Installation, configuration, and administration of enterprise hardware including rackmount/blade servers and SAN/NAS storage
Partnering with senior-level management to set goals, budgets, and build an IT roadmap
Reviewing and proposing decisions regarding vendor relationships and technology purchases
Disaster Recovery and Capacity Planning

Skills, Certifications, and Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, or similar field
Windows 2008R2, SQL Server 2008R2, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Cisco IOS
CCNA a plus
SSCP a plus
Experience supporting application developers using Java and .NET technologies
Ability to meet multiple deadlines and priorities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Business Systems Analyst

Shaw Systems is a national software development company that has an established record of solid financial performance and an excellent reputation for providing quality products. We are seeking a motivated individual to work as a Business Systems Analyst with our credit-based financial software products that run on multiple platforms in our Richmond, VA, office. This individual has application development experience in a financial or corporate environment. Candidates should be prompt, organized and creative as well as being reliable, a team player, and focused on the tasks at hand.

Job Description:

Proven practical design and testing experience.
Major impact on productivity and service levels.
Extensive customer exposure.
Responsible for testing, and debugging new system enhancements and making changes to existing software.
Develops specifications that are subject to review and approval by higher level staff and/or business analysts.
Has a good understanding of the business application, and works independently or with higher level staff and/or technical support to resolve application software problems as necessary.
Responsible for resolving customer issues, either through coding changes or suggesting procedural changes.
Responsible for developing documentation of system changes.
Must be available 24/7 for Production Support.
Some travel required.
Interfacing with our client base providing technical and user customer support.
Daily problem solving, customer training, and installation assistance.
Strong analytical skills are required in order to work through technical challenges with minimal supervision.

Skills and Requirements:

A college degree in Business, MIS, or Computer Science preferred.
Banking and/or finance background preferred.
Operations experience with Commercial credit instruments a plus
Formal presentation experience a plus.

Software Developer

Shaw Systems is a national software development company that has an established record of solid financial performance and an excellent reputation for providing quality products. We are seeking a motivated individual to work as a Software Developer with our credit-based financial software products in our Richmond, VA, office. This individual has application development experience using COBOL in a financial or corporate environment that runs on multiple platforms. Candidates should be prompt, organized and creative as well as being reliable, a team player and focused on the tasks at hand.

Job Description:

Works under general supervision, and performs maintenance and development tasks on existing software products.
Proven practical programming and testing experience.
Major impact on productivity and service levels.
Responsible for coding, testing, and developing /debugging new system enhancements and making changes to existing software.
Develops specifications that are subject to review and approval by higher level staff and/or business analysts.
Code development is subject to review and approval.
Has a good understanding of the business application, and works independently or with higher level staff and/or technical support to resolve application software problems as necessary.

Mainframe programming experience with CICS, MVS JCL, JAVA, VB, DB2 and PC experience with MS Office
MicroFocus COBOL and MS SQL Server are desired.
MS Visual Basic a plus.
A college degree in Computer Science, MIS or Business preferred.
Banking and/or finance background preferred.
Formal presentations experience a plus.
