Quality Assurance Analyst

Shaw Systems Associates, a nationally recognized provider of financial software and our suite of Shaw integrated products is seeking QA Analysts to support our development team with the testing and quality assurance of our latest suite of lending systems solutions.

The Software Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for ensuring that all software is developed and delivered with the highest standards of quality and best practices. This individual will possess a strong business analytical background and great testing skills. This role encompasses a mixture of ongoing quality assurance, design validation and debugging of high level test plans for UAT. A background in manual and automated testing is highly desirable.

  • Works closely with the core development team to understand the design spec and ensure that development is on-track to meet agreed upon requirements
  • Coordinates with the business owners to provide technical updates and collect feedback based on design
  • Conducts unit-testing modules based on the requirements outlined in the specification documentation under the supervision of senior QA Lead
  • Develops unit and system test scripts
  • Meets with the client to understand their business and technical challenges and develops a plan to solve their problems
  • Works closely with the Product Manager and other team members to establish and contribute to detailed project schedules, test planning, retrospectives and demos’ for the team
  • Continuously increases product knowledge and vertical experience. Achieves relevant technical and/or functional certification reflective of current skill set
  • Creates written specifications and screen mockups for developers
  • Develops and maintains product test plans
  • Creates, maintains and updates product documentation (for end-users and administrators)
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a team-based development environment
  • Able to communicate complex concepts to business owners and technical team members
  • Knowledgeable in Web technologies such as JavaScript, JSP, and .NET and database platforms: SQL Server 2005/2008, MySQL, Reporting Services (SSRS), and Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Knowledgeable in agile and ability to work in an agile environment by ensuring that the plan supports the client’s goals and expectations, delivers the greatest business value to the Company, and be willing to make adjustments to exceed these expectations
  • Experience in an automated and manual testing environment
  • A background with all aspects of system, integration and UAT of business applications and requirements
  • 5+ years’ experience SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle), requirements gathering, system analysis and system/software integration
  • Must be a self-starter own deliverables end-to-end, prioritize workload effectively and thrive in dynamic environment
  • FitNesse a plus
  • Selenium a plus
  • Ranorex a plus
  • Financial services background a plus
