Employee Spotlight: Ellen Tinnin, Senior Business Systems Analyst

Employee Spotlight: Ellen TinninResume and Job Description: Ellen Tinnin previously worked at Virginia based Central Fidelity Bank for over 25 years. Her last 15 years there were spent as a Business Analyst supporting the Shaw RETAIL System. From 2001 to 2006 she worked several different jobs including working in a family owned appliance business and working at a local hospital in medical transcription.

Ellen started at Shaw as a contractor in January 2006 then moved to Richmond from Lynchburg and became full time in October 2006. She started as a tester on SPECTRUM developing Selenium automated testing scripts. Ellen was promoted to Senior Business Systems Analyst in 2007. She began working with Fitnesse testing in 2009 and converted a number of Selenium tests into Fitnesse tests for the Database Load that is still used today.

Ellen moved from SPECTRUM to the COMMERCIAL system in January 2011 as a Sr Business Systems Analyst. She then moved back to SPECTRUM in 2015 in a testing/Business Analyst position. She became a full time Business Analyst in September 2017 and started on the BB&T project almost immediately.

Ellen enjoys the interaction of working with clients and feels that it is important to keep up with what’s going on in the lending industry.

Rave Review: Ellen’s manager Ryan Gray says: “Ellen has been a great addition to the Loan Servicing BSA team this past year, transitioning from her previous role as a Quality Assurance Specialist. Ellen brings to the table 11 years of experience working with Shaw Systems, and has built up a great working relationship with our internal staff and with our external clients alike. What I enjoy most about Ellen is her strong work ethic, and how she is looked up to by her peers for her extensive business knowledge.”

Family and Interests: Ellen has two children and three grandsons, ages 16, 13 and 7, that she’s very proud of. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and her dog Molly. She’s had lunch every month or so for the last 17 years with friends from “the bank”.

Ellen loves to garden and take care of her yard. She also enjoys reading suspense novels. She never misses a chance to go to the beach, which is one of her favorite places to travel. She had the opportunity to travel to Italy in 2015, which was a trip of a lifetime, and she wants to do more traveling in Europe.

Perspective: Ellen says “I have enjoyed working at Shaw and am appreciative of Shaw considering the older working crowd as still being of value. The fact that I learn something new every day is rewarding. I’ve gained a new work family and friends over the years and that was very important to someone that had lived in the same city for their entire life and then moved away.”
