It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of our Founder and Chairman, Roy G. Shaw, Jr., who passed away on Tuesday, August 13th. Roy founded Shaw Systems in 1967, during a transformative era in technology. His ingenuity and innovation laid the groundwork to establish Shaw Systems as a pioneering force in loan servicing software. His visionary leadership was instrumental in ushering our industry into the modern computing era.

Over five decades, Roy lead Shaw’s constant evolution from large mainframes to the modern cloud computing of today’s financial institutions. Roy’s commitment to embracing new technology led Shaw Systems to launch today’s applications that service tens of millions of loans across North America and beyond.

Roy’s steadfast focus on creating technology on behalf of Shaw’s clients created partnerships that continue to flourish more than 40 years later. Roy was more than a leader; he was a true trailblazer, mentor, innovator, and friend to many within our organization and the industry at large.

Roy fostered a unique family culture within his organization, creating an environment where employees felt valued and connected. His legacy is etched into the very fabric of our company and his values will continue to guide us as we move forward.

Roy’s commitment to philanthropy was evident through numerous charitable endeavors. With Judith, his wife of 65 years, they established foundations to support and build a legacy helping many of the incredible arts, education, and medical facilities we have in Houston today. These beneficiaries include such world-renowned institutions as The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Rice University, St. Thomas Episcopal Church and School, Methodist Hospital, UTMB Research and Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, and many more.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Shaw family during this difficult time. We remain committed to honoring his memory by continuing to uphold the values and innovation he instilled in us from the very beginning.
