Seven Questions with Cori Schmidt-Zdrazil – Business Manager, Member Business Solutions
What’s your #1 business priority for 2014?
Strengthening our infrastructure to enhance product offerings and streamline operations. The first step in this program was our migration to Shaw’s COMMERCIAL system in 2013. Since we are really an adolescent organization, we have reached the point where we must now look inward to improve systems so that we can support growth well into the future.
The leading characteristic of a financial services organization?
I believe the leading characteristic in a financial services organization should be integrity.
Your top piece of advice for future financial services executives?
Providing good service always comes first. In this day and age, good customer service seems to be a lost art and it is so fundamentally important. It does not matter that you have a stellar product or service, if you deliver it poorly, it is going to fail. No matter who your audience, ensure you exceed expectations.
When you were 20, what did you envision for your career?
I thought I would be a painter and poet.
The most unusual job you’ve ever had?
My first job out of college was an internal auditor, and I had to spend weeks on the docks of refrigerated warehouses in Texas counting palates and boxes. It was 110 degrees outside and 20 degrees inside.
Your favorite book or movie?
Movie: Stranger than Fiction. Not really a book, but a play: Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Favorite quote or motto?
Stand and be true.
