Shaw Systems recently decided to participate in the Adopt a Soldier program. We organized a collection drive in both our Richmond and Houston offices to gather items to be sent to soldiers.
Several Shaw employees chipped in by donating many different items. Some people gave money to support the cause, which was spent on purchasing more items for the troops. The company pitched in and covered the shipping costs to ensure delivery of the items. There were a total of 15 boxes from the Richmond office and 14 boxes from the Houston office that were sent to the soldiers.
Shaw Systems is happy to help support the soldiers and participate in the Adopt a Soldier program. We currently have employee war veterans and have had employee family members deployed. We hope that what we have collected and sent helps support soldiers overseas. Small treats and things from home can make a big difference to a soldier. If you’re interested in supporting the Adopt a Soldier program, visit their website to see how you can help too.
Some of the items that were sent include things like:
- Socks, hats, sunglasses
- Candy, drink mix, beef jerky, crackers, cereal, coffee
- Pencils, pens, paper
- Dice, Nerf footballs, playing cards
- Soap, deodorant, band-aids, lotion, wet wipes, Q-tips
- Paperback books, puzzle books
