Charity Spotlight: Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
Shaw Systems is committed to community service and volunteerism. Shaw gives its employees one paid Charity Day per year to complete a charitable activity. Charity Spotlight: The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ promotes agriculture by hosting an annual, family-friendly experience that educates and entertains the public, supports Texas youth, showcases Western heritage and provides year-round educational support within the community. Since its beginning in 1932, the Rodeo has committed more than $550 million to Texas youth and education.
One of our employees, Gina, spent her 2022 charity day volunteering for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The Rodeo’s mission is to provide scholarships to the youth. Gina wanted to support their mission and that’s why she chose to volunteer with them. She was a Gatekeeper, which is the committee who scans the tickets to allow entry into NRG Park. Gatekeepers are the first smiling faces that you see at HLSR. This was Gina’s first time working as a Gatekeeper and she is already looking forward to volunteering again in 2023.
