Shaw Systems is committed to community service and volunteerism. Shaw gives its employees paid Charity time to complete charitable activities.
Charity Spotlight: Special Pals is Houston’s only no-kill animal rescue shelter. Since 1979, Special Pals has served the Houston community with one simple mission: to save as many animal lives as possible.
Gina, one of our associates, volunteers with her daughter on a regular basis at Special Pals. They have helped with adoption events, cleaned the “Catio” (cat area), fed the dogs, and fostered a sweet puppy named Holly over the Christmas holidays. Volunteering has opened her eyes to the needs of our four-legged friends, and it is also providing her daughter with valuable experience for her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
The shelter is near capacity for their dogs and cats, so the need to support them or, even better, adopt one at a reasonable cost is great. The animals are fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and treated well while at Special Pals, but they need permanent fur-ever homes. Gina would like to spread the word about Special Pals and encourage others to adopt an animal.
