Employee Spotlight: Ben Mayne

Education:  Ben Mayne graduated with a BS in Computer Science from Texas A&M University in December of 2002.

Resume: I began my career working for a government contractor in Austin, researching network and software security.  While at this job, I was presented with “programmatically impossible” (NP-Complete) problems, and was tasked with finding clever ways to solve those problems.  I think this has helped me in my current position at Shaw to look for outside-of-the-box solutions to tough problems.

Job Description: I joined Shaw in February of 2009 and am currently a Lead Developer for the COLLECTIONS team.  I thoroughly enjoy my job.  I am consistently presented with challenges which keep me busy and add to my knowledge.

Rave Review: “Ben Mayne is our COLLECTIONS “master”, our guru, our sensei, and no matter what the situation is he will stop what he’s doing to hear us out. His knowledge about COLLECTIONS is impeccable, he’s a great team player and his developer skills are sharp and without a doubt untouchable (as well as his ping pong skills). I know I can depend on Ben for any challenge and or task as he’s always willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.” says COLLECTIONS product manager Irma Lopez.

Family and Interests: I enjoy soccer, working-out, and being the current Ping Pong champion of the Houston Office.  I hope to extend my Ping Pong title to the Richmond office sometime soon.

Perspective: I’ve always enjoyed the fact that as a developer at Shaw, I am exposed to all parts of the system from the front-end to the back-end.  I’m not pigeon-holed into one role.  I enjoy working with a team of developers and BA’s who are fun, easy to communicate with, and willing to do whatever it takes to handle our ever-growing workload.
