Shaw Team Raises More Than $60,000 in the Bike MS Ride to the River
The Shaw Systems Cycling Team raised more than $60,000 in the Bike MS: Valero 2011 Alamo Ride to the River October 15-16th. The team, comprised of Shaw employees and their friends and family members, rode 130 – 160 miles during the 2-day trek between San Antonio and New Braunfels. The Texas series of Bike MS events raises over $20 million annually for research and programs for the nearly half a million people living with MS in the United States. The Shaw team is approaching an impressive $300,000 in fundraising over the last 6 years.
“We are currently 3rd place in total team fundraising for the Ride to the River and have surpassed the $60,000 mark!” said Team Captain and Senior Operations Manager Chris Shaw. “For a small team of only 27 riders to be third only to Valero Energy and AT&T, and ahead of teams from great organizations such as Holt Caterpillar, Frost Bank, Clear Channel, HEB Foods, Accenture, and Wells Fargo is just incredible. This, along with the fact that we have the highest average fundraising per rider of any team, puts each member in a class of their own.”
Shaw employees who rode, volunteered, or helped fundraise are Stephen Brannon, Dawn DeFelice, Ryan Gray, Craig Hoffmeyer, and Chris Shaw.
